Donne Fittipaldi

The history of the winery began in 2004, when the Fittipaldi Menarini family decided to buy land in Bolgheri and plant vineyards and olive trees. The fame of Bolgheri wines is now well established in the world, but that is not the main reason for choosing this territory. “Bolgheri is above all a state of mind,” reads the presentation of the Consorzio di Tutela, and Maria Fittipaldi Menarini with her four daughters Carlotta, Giulia, Serena and Valentina immediately realize this.

They remain fascinated by the place, the climate, the atmosphere, the light of the sea reflecting on the vineyards, the poignant views, the scents, the medieval villages, and the kindness of the inhabitants.

They decide to indulge the genius loci and set their sights on production of absolute stature with those Bordeaux grape varieties that have proven to deliver the highest quality results in this corner of Tuscany: they plant Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

The winery is based in Tenuta la Pineta, on the Via Bolgherese and covers 46 hectares in the heart of DOC Bolgheri. Of these, 10 hectares are planted with vines with plans for further expansion. There are also 1,200 olive trees from which extra virgin olive oil is produced.

The technical staff consists of agronomist Stefano Bartolomei and oenologist Emiliano Falsini. Average production is nearly 70,000 bottles, marketed in equal parts on the Italian and Anglo-Saxon markets. donne Fittipaldi is associated with the Consortium for the Protection of DOC Bolgheri and DOC Bolgheri Sassicaia Wines.

Each of the daughters has her own profession, but they are all united by one passion, that of wine, which has grown since they got involved in an industry that is history, culture, science, art and philosophy of life. It is precisely the union with art that consolidates the passion of all of them: from the very beginning, Fittipaldi women have been linked to artist and friend Giorgio Restelli, aka Giores, for the creation of almost all their labels.

By Giores is the idea of the name “donne Fittipaldi,” followed by the 'Stolen Legs' project where the artist transforms, with an action painting, based on enamels and acrylics, one of her photographic shots, printed on canvas, constantly representing female sinuosity. Her red wine labels are three: Bolgheri Rosso Superiore DOC, Bolgheri Rosso DOC and Malaroja IGT Toscana Malbec. These have been joined by two other joyfully feminine labels: the Lady F Orpicchio and the “5” Rosato Frizzante Ancestrale.

Translated with DeepL.com (free version)The additional two labels, however, are the work of one of the daughters, Giulia. For the Magnetic, in an ingenious and original way, she has reproduced her mother's magnetic eye, so bewitching that it seems to be trying to steal sensations from the taster's mind. The label for the DF red 2020, on the other hand, is as simple as it is representative of the Fittipaldi women's style.
